The Great New Zealand Muster

10 April, 2010
NZ Shears & The Great NZ Muster

Crowds flock to Te Kuiti each April when it celebrates its 'Shearing Capital of the World' status with a unique variation of ‘bullrush’. In this case, it’s more like ‘sheeprush’, as hundreds of the animals are released to pour along the spectator-lined main street as part of the Great New Zealand Muster. The light-hearted event has grown in stature and attracts thousands for a day of country entertainment. The town’s main street is lined with markets, food stalls, live music and masses of activities for the kids to keep everybody happy.
